About the Artist

Joseph Perez, best known as “Sentrock” is a self taught street artist. Sentrock witnessed street art as a form of expression, birthing his interest to pick a spray can and continue his artistic voice. His early works were developed from graffiti writing in Mexican-American neighborhoods. Sentrock’s signature bird-mask over a human figure has become his most recognizable declaration.  Sentrock describes his bird-mask as analogous to humanity: a person who is able to find or escape to their freedom by placing them in a different reality. Through his work, he has become a catalyst for his community. His work presents undertones of hope, freedom and expression. His work encapsulates his background, history, upbringing, empathy, and compassion for his community.

September/October Exhibit: Nellie Le

Back in March 2020 we had the distinct pleasure of hosting the first solo exhibit of works by LA-based artist and illustrator Nellie Le. Unfortunately, Nellie also had the distinct displeasure of being the first exhibit we've ever hosted where we weren't able to allow folks in to view the exhibit in person (thanks Covid).

We promised then to have Nellie back, and we're making good on that promise now! Come see the adorable and affordable stylings of Nellie Le at our Chicago gallery starting Saturday, September 17th!

August/September Exhibit: Vivian Le

Join us in welcoming back Chicago-based artist Vivian Le for her second solo exhibit in our gallery! We couldn't be more excited to share these new works with you.

Her striking imagery, primarily children and dolls, hits hard. Seeking to explore her "fascination with how history and contemporary media continue to portray children in art as romantic symbols," Le creates a world that is fascinating and, at times, horrifying but always beautiful.

About the Artist / Artist Statement

“Growing up in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, I have always been drawn to the pulse of the city. My primary focus is wheat-pasting, applying an image, usually on a public space, with homemade paste. I have expanded mediums to canvas work and murals, but I enjoy wheat-pasting the most because of it’s organic, temporal nature. The lifespan of my wheat-pasted pieces is unpredictable…some fade with grace while other are gone too soon, but either way I try to compliment the landscape they call home. Wheat-pasting allows me to put an idea to paper, bring it to life with paint, and share it by choosing just the right location to provide context. The application process allows me to literally get my hands dirty and contribute to the sights and sounds of the city.”

“My self-taught work is influenced by pop culture, hip hop, Tokyo street art and the Japanese aesthetic. While my work can currently be seen around the city of Chicago, I’ve had the opportunity to wheat-paste in some of my favorite spots in Tokyo, leaving behind a little of myself in a place that’s given me so much.“
